The golden iPod isn't luxurious enough for you? Check out this MacBook Air. Called "Golden Age", it's got a coating of 24k gold beneath 12,000 Swarovski crystals. Each crystal was applied by hand (of course), and only 20 Golden Age Airs have been made.
That's right, you can buy one! Why not show up at Starbucks with an Apple laptop that costs nearly 40 thousand dollars? And people say Mac users are smug.
Let’s run down a recap of the completely stupid, and ridiculously expensive versions of Apple products. There’s the Gold and Platinum iPhones. There’s the Golden Macbook Pro, which is actually pretty cheap at only $1,500 over the price of a regular Macbook Pro.
Then, of course, there are the absurdly expensive solid gold iPod Shuffle, and even more absurdly priced diamond iPod Shuffle that clocks in at over $40k.
Now, the funny part is that after mentioning that last shuffle, the $39,750 “Golden Age” Macbook Air doesn’t seem nearly as ridiculously priced. This thing has a coating of 24k gold beneath 12,000 Swarovski crystals. Each crystal is applied by hand, of course, and there will only be 20 of these ever made.
Which is probably a good thing - because they are hideous looking।
True luxury addicts need look no further than Bling My Thing’s new “Golden Age” creation. Unveiled at CeBIT 2008, “Golden Age” is a Macbook Air decked in 12,000 Swarovski crystals. The crystals are even more shiny than usual thanks to a coating of 24k gold applied under each crystal. The translucence of the crystals allows for true layered luxury. Each “Golden Age” takes a week to construct since each and every crystal is hand-applied, so only 20 of these beauties exist, one of which will be for sale at Selfridges, Oxford Street, on March 18th. That is if you can muster up the £20,000 ($39,750) price tag for the mega-bling
